The Impact of AI
In Education
Nowadays, people can see broad use of AI systems in schools. Those systems can help teachers teach more efficiently, like saving the time of grading, as the AI technologies can automate grading. AI also can assess students and adapt to their pace. Thus, AI tutors can help students to stay on track and ensure their quality of studying (Rouse). For example, the learning program DreamBoxLearning is developed for mathematics in the US market, “which enables personalized learning based on Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies with an adaptive intelligent learning system” (Renz and Hilbig).
In Healthcare
AI systems are largely applied in healthcare, as they can predict the patients’ outcomes. Many big companies use machine learning to have a high quality of diagnoses. One famous example is IBM Watson. The system can gather available data, especially associated with patients, to yield a hypothesis. Further, other applications of AI systems like virtual health assistants online and chatbots can help patients to search for the information they need for medication, making appointments, and understanding billing processes. To predict and fight the COVID-19 pandemic AI systems have been used, which shows the great effects of the array of AI technologies (Rouse, “Artificial Intelligence”).
In Finance
Many personal finance applications of AI can collect personal data and provide financial advice; it brings negative influences to financial institutions like Intuit Mint or Turbo Tax since the AI can replace their working tasks. Artificial intelligence software plays much of a role in trading on Wall Street nowadays (Rouse,). In other words, AI has replaced many human workforces, even though those applications help to improve the efficiency in finance.
In Transportation
One of the famous applications of AI in transportation is autonomous vehicles. Many of them have used it, like Tesla Motors. Additionally, in managing traffic, predicting flight delays, and arranging ocean shipping, AI technologies also contribute tremendously to promote safety and efficiency (Rouse, “Artificial Intelligence”).
